About The Authentic Educator
The Authentic Educator was built on the belief that every learner deserves dignity, and every family deserves a village.
I have spent the last 20 years working with children from newborn through age 21. I am consistently drawn to the learners others describe as hard to reach. I have seen what happens when children are misunderstood, and what becomes possible when they are supported in ways that actually work.
Defiant. Difficult. Disruptive. Disrespectful.
These are the words that get used when adults run out of understanding.
These are the words that follow children.
These are the words that stick.
The learners I work with often come with a lot of labels attached—ADHD, autism, PDA, anxiety, PTSD, ODD.
These learners are highly capable, but their engagement can be inconsistent. They are driven by interest and can shut down when demands feel too high. What looks like defiance is often a response to overwhelm, anxiety, or a need for autonomy.
My approach is not about controlling behavior or getting stuck in the label. It is about getting curious—what does the learner need, what is the environment asking of them, and how can we better support them?
Support is flexible, relationship based, and responsive. This work happens in homes, community spaces, and the everyday moments that shape a child’s world. It reduces unnecessary demands, builds trust, and creates conditions where learners can engage, regulate, and grow.
Every learner deserves dignity.
Every family deserves a village.
This is one part of that village.

🌿About Cost
Families are never billed for services.
There are no hourly rates, intake fees, or required payments. Families are never asked to prove need, apply for assistance, or commit financially in order to receive help.
Support is offered first, without cost being a barrier.
Some families choose to contribute later when they are able. Many cannot. Both are okay.
This work is sustained through community support and donations, which allow access to remain open to every family who needs it.
